We are about a 5-minute walk from Keswick town centre.

We do not have a guest lounge. There are numerous pubs and restaurants in the town, only a 5-minute walk, for our guests to socialize in.

What time is check in / check out / housekeeping?

Check in is from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm (1700 hrs till 1900 hrs).

Please see under ‘Other’ on the T&Cs page for information regarding ‘early check in’ requests.

Being a family-run guesthouse we strongly urge advance notice for arrival after 7:00 pm (1900 hrs), and arrival after 9:00 pm (2100 hrs) is by strict prior arrangement only, at least a week in advance, unless circumstances beyond one’s control dictate otherwise. Please note however that ‘check-ins’ after 10:00pm (2200hrs) are not possible (even in the event you are running late), as this, we have found, detrimentally disrupts other guests that may be sleeping.

Check out is by 10.30 am (1030 hrs) on the day of departure.

We kindly require guests to vacate their room between 10:30 am and 1:30 pm (1030 hrs and 1330 hrs) to allow for housekeeping. Increased communal area cleaning will be carried out due to Covid-19 guidelines whilst restricted in guest bedroom spaces to reduce the risk to all.

What time is breakfast served?

Due to Covid-19 guidelines, breakfast service timings will be dependant on establishment occupancy and may run to two breakfast sittings.

  • 1-2 room establishment occupancy: 0800hrs-0840hrs. (first sitting).
  • 0840hrs-0850hrs – dining room clearance and sanitisation.
  • 3-4 room establishment occupancy: 0850hrs-0930hrs. (second sitting).

Timings are to enable sanitisation between breakfast sittings.

If we have a 1 or 2 room occupancy in the establishment, then we will only carry out the first sitting. Guests will be required to follow these guidelines to ensure that we meet Covid-19 regulations and will be required to vacate the room.

We are really appreciative of your kind consideration and support in this matter.

Do you cater for special diets?

We can only do our best to cater for specific diets, specifically Coeliac, Gluten-free, Vegan, and Vegetarian. We would strongly urge guests with special diets or allergies to inform us and check with us in advance, preferably before booking, whether we can cater for them.

Does Oakthwaite House offer single occupancy?

All rooms are available for single occupancy. Please visit our tariff page or contact us directly for further assistance.
